Shot 3 — Reinvention
Speakers: Has Khair, Founder of Mavericks Unlimited & tyllr
· Liv Griffiths, Co-Founder, Sway
Why are career shifts happening earlier than ever? With AI, changing work cultures and new priorities in the mix, Has and Liv shared their own transitions: Has from corporate life to founding his own ventures, guided by Ikigai, and Liv from private equity into leadership advisory. We explored whether reinvention is really about turning into someone new, or uncovering who you already are, plus practical tools like Odyssey Planning and job crafting.
There’s never a right time to change, but there can be wrong times. Start by getting clear on your values: name your superpowers and your kryptonite (drainers), and ask others what they see in you. Embrace the glory of “and” over the tyranny of “or”. And perhaps it isn’t about reinvention at all, but becoming.
Shot 3 also launched Spill the Beans, a new slot for anyone in the room to share what they’re working on. Farhana Husain, the UK’s divorce doula, kicked it off with her new book, She’s Not Done Yet.
“Believe in your possibility, because the reality of today may be clouding what the future could be.” — Has Khair
“Maybe you feel (embody) your values before you know them.” — Liv Griffiths

Shot 2 — Connection
Speakers: Nick Hounsfield, Founder of The Wave & One Blue World · Rebecca Brennan, Business Strategist & Endurance Runner
Two powerful stories, both rooted in loss. Nick shared how a promise at his father’s bedside became The Wave, and how water helped him recover after multiple strokes left him unable to speak. His work now centres on Blue Health, the link between water, wellbeing and community, with a vision that reaches far beyond surf parks.
Rebecca was saying goodbye to her mum when the race she’d trained months for started without her. Grief could have burned her; she chose to let it warm her instead. The result was a record-breaking run of the 230-mile Cape Wrath Trail in just over five days, by a self-described “average runner achieving above average goals.”
The thread: connection is often forged in the hardest moments, and it’s the foundation of great leadership, resilient teams and purposeful business. As Rebecca put it, the true test of connection is how you made someone feel when you’re not there.
“We've got a health crisis, a housing crisis, and a climate crisis. How can we connect them together, rather than deal with them in silos?” — Nick Hounsfield
“We don't lose people, we carry them — but we can only carry them if the depth of connection is there.”
— Rebecca Brennan

Shot 1 — Own Your Story
Speakers: Alex Barker, BE MORE PIRATE / Pass the Mic
We opened the series with speaking coach Alex Barker, whose talk went well beyond presentation tips. Alex challenged us to examine the stories we tell ourselves and the limits they quietly create. Her message: authenticity wins. Tell the story only you can tell, say what you truly believe, own your highs, and live at the edges of your map.
She urged us to tell the untold story. People want something real, not the well-worn narrative, and audiences often don’t know what they need to hear until they hear it. Then came the provocations: what’s the edgiest thing you believe? What do you lie about? We can’t control the stories told about us, but we can own them, and accepting them in full creates energy, agency and momentum.
“Your mindset is just a story you keep telling yourself. You can write a new one.” — Alex Barker
